Meet Daphca
About Daphca
Daphca became homeless after her mother passed away in July 2023. She suffered from neglect and malnutrition, which led to serious dental problems. When her father could not care for her, a family friend took her in for a brief period. However, this person was unable to continue caring for Daphca due to her special HIV care needs.
In August 2023, the CHOAIDS team received a phone call from a social worker at the Petit Frères et Soeurs Hospital about Daphca’s situation. Despite having already been relocated to Cap-Haitien, the team arranged for her safe transport. Daphca arrived only knowing two words: yes and no. Since being in our care, Daphca has made significant progress due to receiving proper nutrition and medical support. Now seven years old, Daphca’s health continues to improve. She attended school for the first time in the 2023-2024 school year and performed well in her class. We believe she will continue to thrive with God’s grace.
