About Richardson

Richardson came to us when he was two years old in February 2015. He lived with his parents until the death of his mother from AIDS complications. Richardson’s father struggled to provide proper care for him due to his own health issues and financial constraints, which eventually led them to become homeless. When Richardson fell ill, his father took him to Grace Children’s Hospital, where they received HIV medical care, but his father abandoned him there.

The hospital’s director contacted the CHOAIDS team about accepting Richardson into the orphanage. Richardson is a brilliant eleven-year-old who enjoys reading French books as a pastime. As a thriving tween living with a chronic condition like HIV, Richardson takes life seriously with his brothers and sisters at the orphanage. He aspires to become an entrepreneur when he grows up.
