Meet Ricardinhio
About Ricardinhio
Ricardinhio is one of four children who came to CHOAIDS from another orphanage that was closing due to gang violence in Port-au-Prince in 2021. Ricardinhio never knew his biological parents. Before living in orphanages, he lived in several relatives’ homes. Unfortunately, he received less desirable treatment in the orphanage where she lived, so he ran away several times. He sought refuge at a youth encampment in Delmas, which contacted Child Welfare (IBESR) for help.
Ricardinhio remained in IBESR’s custody until his story was shared with a social worker at the Petit Frères et Sœurs Hospital, who then contacted CHOAIDS. In August 2021, Ricardinho came to live at CHOAIDS. He is a very quiet and reserved child who loves and does well in school. He is very helpful around the house and is a star student passionate about the sewing program. This sixteen-year-old young man would like to become a medical doctor.
