Meet Nathalie

Nathalie is nine years old. She joined the CHOAIDS family in March 2023. Before coming to CHOAIDS, she lived with her mother, five siblings, and her17-year-old sister’s two children. Their living situation became so dire that Nathalie’s mother would decide which child to feed on certain days. A patient of an HIV healthcare center in Thomassin, Nathalie’s mother, asked for help in finding a place for her younger daughter, Nathalie, to live. Administrators from that facility contacted Grace Children’s Hospital and one of the social workers on site contacted CHOAIDS.

Although it took several months for Nathalie to accept her position in the CHOAIDS family, she has since found joy in being away from her mother. Nathalie is an outstanding student who has since skipped a grade. She loves to read and play with dolls. When asked what she would like to be when she grows up, Nathalie clutches her doll and shares that she wants to be a nurse.
