About Kervens

Thirteen-year-old Kervens came to us in April 2017. He was five years old. He lost his mother when he was just a baby, leaving his father to care for him. However, his father struggled with alcoholism, often leaving the baby unattended. As a result, Kervens did not receive the necessary nutrition and medical care. Through word of mouth about CHOAIDS, a woman living in Croix-des-Bouquets informed a local pastor who ran an orphanage where Kervens was dropped off to take the child to us rather than abandoning him at a local hospital.

Kervens was the first child we had that came to us in his condition. He came to us bloated and shiny, we later learned that his father was feeding him alcohol. The team at the Grace Children’s Hospital provided the necessary assistance in cleaning his system from alcohol. Though it took us months to stabilize his health, we were thankful that he pulled through. Kervens is a happy boy who loves playing soccer and studying social sciences. He wants to study to become a policeman when he grows up.
