  • LeTTER FOR FUNDS FOR VALCUSE
  • MAY 15, 2005

Dear Friends, Colleagues, and Church Family:

I hope and pray everything is well with you and your families.  This letter is concerning Valcuse Descoses, the 13 year-old HIV positive child I met during one of my visits at the Grace Children’s Hospital last summer.  Her situation touched my heart, and I want to help her.  Since my return to the U.S., I have been in contact with the Christian Children’s Fund (CCF), which has affiliations in Haiti. Unfortunately, there has been very little response from them.

It has been almost four months since I met and heard of this child’s story.  I can honestly say she has changed my life.  She was born HIV positive, and I think she’s been waiting long enough to receive basic care that everyone on this earth is entitled to.  I want you to help me provide the basics for her.

Please read her story and help me make life a little easier on her.  Since I haven’t heard from CCF, and most likely will not, with your financial contribution, I want to help her live longer.  Here are the plans: I want to raise enough money so that the two ladies you’ll read about in Valcuse’s story can rent an apartment so that Valcuse can stay with an HIV+ woman (she’ll be chosen by the two ladies) to take care of her.  Since this project will be the only source of survival for Valcuse and her caretaker, I hope to have enough money to support them until I’m able to get funding from other sources (i.e., grant money).  My goal is to send the money I collect by early December to the two persons who will be running this project in Haiti so that they can get this child a place to live.  Please act promptly.  No amount is too small; together we will make a difference.

Your Sister in Christ,

Marie F. Denis
