Rolf is Dolf’s twin brother. He lost his mother to AIDS in mid-November 2006. The boys were living with their maternal grandmother in Jeremie, Haiti. The grandmother traveled to Port-au-Prince both by boat and bus every month and as needed (dependent on their health condition) to receive antiretroviral therapy and medical care for them. The boys’ grandmother has her own health problems which further hinder her from properly caring for them. The pediatrician at the center where the twins receive medical care introduced the grandmother to one of the CHOAIDS team members, who then informed her of our services. The twins have been living at the CHOAIDS house since January 2007 and are doing well in school. They are among the children being tutored after school.
