Kenny came to live at the CHOAIDS home in November 2007. While receiving HIV treatment at Grace Children’s hospital, Kenny’s mother was introduced to our staff when she became really ill. Kenny’s mother had already given up her youngest child to a local orphanage. A few months after the child’s placement in the orphanage, he died from AIDS complications. Although it was painful for her to let go of the only child she had left, she was relieved to hear that we had room for Kenny and that she was allowed to come visit him whenever she wanted. Kenny was never in school prior to moving to the CHOAIDS home – he was very excited to start school last January. Kenny is happy to be living with the other children who have welcomed him to the family. |
